We send our love to you this Christmas time, praying that you are able to relax and enjoy the festive celebrations of Jesus’ birth.
Anna: Has had a really fun year. Highlights have included: doing a discipleship course 2 days a week at her church in Sheffield, making new friends, going to headphone discos, playing rugby, visiting Canada for 3½ weeks in summer and doing lots of youth work. She is currently sharing a house with 3 good friends, still working part-time as a teaching assistant for the visually impaired, and enjoying long weekends while working out what she wants to do next...
Ben: In his 2nd year at uni is living in a nice house with 4 others. He is helping to set up a university scout group. He has already been on a camp in Yorkshire on a wet and windy weekend on Ilkley Moor, plus helped with other events with younger scouts. Over summer he enjoyed stewarding at several festivals. In his 1st year he worked on the uni radio, co hosting a sports programme on Sunday evenings, and had his own show 'The Mellow Hour' during the week. He hopes to get another show in 2010. To boost his finances Ben managed recently to get a part time job in Staples.
Symon: Survived another Aviva redundancy round. Now very busy at work, but enjoying doing a more technical programming role again, with the occasional perks like two day conference in Paris recently. Still keeping up the daily cycling to work across to other side of Norwich (Broadland Business Park, a round trip of nearly 18 miles). But I fear I still like my food too much - alas the weight is not dropping off. Enjoyed several canoe outings locally.
Sue: Has now worked for a year as an LSA at a high school, 3 days/week. Since Sept mainly supporting an autistic lad in year 7 - never a dull moment! In autumn she joined a local health club and now swims about 3 times a week, she recently had an induction session at the gym and may attempt that as well. Art lessons continue. In summer she managed to squeeze quite a few veg in our small plot. A good year for salads - we have only just started buying tomatoes and lettuces again.
S & S enjoyed 3 holidays in our caravan this year: summer in the Lake District, + 2 short breaks in Derbyshire in May & Oct, joined by Anna and Ben. All such amazing scenery and wildlife, we love it! We enjoyed a day trip to the Hampton Court flower show in July. Church life continues to be very busy. The next generation has begun: Our niece Ruth's gorgeous son Benjamin pictured above with his namesake! Altogether life is pretty full!
Our love to you all, and God's rich blessings for the year ahead!!
